Laura Haupert, Ph.D., is the Chief Science Officer for OMI Industries. Dr. Haupert leads research and development, regulatory, safety and quality control for OMI Industries, with a state-of-the-art laboratory and production in Rising Sun, Indiana. Dr. Haupert earned her B.S. in chemistry (biochemistry concentration) from Manchester College in 2006 and began her Ph.D. studies in physical chemistry at Purdue University shortly thereafter, working in bond energies of solvated clusters. Dr. Haupert also completed her post-doctoral research at Purdue focusing on the development of mass spectrometric methods for the structural elucidation of catalytic degradation of lignin. Dr. Haupert joined OMI Industries in May 2012 and is responsible for quality control and assurance of all of OMI’s product lines, formulating and developing new product lines, method development, regulatory management and directing the laboratory.
Dr. Haupert has led significant research into developing plant oil-based chemistry odor abatement solutions for odors from cannabis cultivation facilities, and from cannabis smoke odors. This has resulted in customized formulations that have been proven by independent labs to eliminate 98.7% of odors, and proven safe for exposure to both humans, pets and the surrounding environment.
