Levi Rickert is the publisher and editor of Native News Online, one on America’s most read daily American Indian publications. Native News Online has over 400,000 Facebook followers and over 72 Twitter followers. Now in its 11th year of publication, Native News Online was recently named the top digital publication in Indian Country by the Native American Journalists Association.
Rickert also was awarded first place for his op-ed column that is published in Native News Online each Sunday by the Native American Journalists Association.
Rickert, a tribal citizen of the Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation, is the former executive director of the North American Indian Center of Grand Rapids. He has served as president of the Grand Rapids Historical Commission and vice chair of the City of Grand Rapids Community Relations Commission. Currently, Rickert serves on the Grand Valley State University Native American Advisory Board and the Grand Valley State University’s Kutsche Office of Local History Advisory Council.
Rickert is also the author of several published essays. His most recent, “Indian Pride” appears in "Voice on the Water: Great Lakes Native America Now," (Northern Michigan University Press).
